Project Description
Design Objective
Employ principles of subtractive transformation in the manipulation of three-dimensional space to design a small weekend retreat that takes view, sun and topography into account
- Employ a series of subtractive operations to create form
- Use an iterative process to create study and final models
- Follow a sequenced design process
- Translate meaning of action verbs into physical form
Concept Development
My subtractive exploration evolved into a design of interlocking circles defining the three prescribed program areas.
The "box" was erased through carving, grading and bending/curving. Emphasis was on maximizing both privacy and openness/views.
